According to the 2009 Lodging and Visitor's Guide Big Bear is where:
"Time slows down in the enchanted valley of Big Bear. Each season offers a new and completely different vacation. Discover the seasonal offerings that will entice you to revisit several times a year!"
The Big Bear Valley is a four-season resort community located in the San Bernardino Mountains within a 1-3 hour driving distance from most Southern California Cities.
WINTER. In the winter Big Bear offers a variety of choices for every activity level. Hit the slopes at Snow Summit or Bear Mountain on a snowboard or skis and enjoy the panoramic vistas. You and the kids will also enjoy tobogganing or tubing. The forest is beautiful to enjoy this time of year with its natural flocking of the trees. This is a great time of year to enjoy that fireplace. However you choose to spend your time here in the winter, you will enjoy the snowcapped peaks and have fun discovering just what this resort has to offer.
SPRING. Spending time in the spring in one of the most beautiful woodland regions in Southern California is fantastic! You will be reinvigorated with the clear skies and crisp air. Hiking, walking, biking, horseback riding and fishing are just some of the fun things to do in the Spring in beautiful Big Bear Lake.
SUMMER. Leave the heat and smog behind you and enjoy our moderate temperatures during the summer months. We have numerous marinas where you can rent or launch boats on the lake. It is also popular to canoe and kayak here. Lots of summer activities go on in Big Bear this time of year.
FALL. This is a beautiful time of year with brisk air and colorful leaves. We have a famous Oktoberfest at the convention center which lasts for over a month along with safari at the zoo and the International Film Festival. It is also a good time to go hiking, walking, biking, horseback riding and fishing.
